Hair talk! How to Brush your hair.

Are you brushing your hair the right way? Yes beautiful, there is a right way 😘

Come sit on my metaphorical chair and let's talk about this.

Let's start off with talking about the benefits of brushing your hair. One may think that the sole benefit is to detangle your hair, but there is a lot more to it than you would think!

Some of the benefits;

Shiny hair. The sebaceous glands located in your hair follicles produce natural oils that help lubricate your scalp. When you brush your hair properly, it helps distribute these natural, healthy oils, from the roots of your hair to the ends, giving them a natural shine. This is also the reason why we recommend to wash your hair max of twice a week. Have you read our last entry about washing your hair? Go check it out and come back here.

Scalp stimulation. Brushing your hair gently is like a mini massage for your scalp. It helps in the removal of old hair strands, as well as the stimulation. It’s normal to shed between 50 and 100 strands of hair a day, so when you brush your hair daily, you help remove loose hair, and with the brushing movement you are actually stimulating it to grow.

How to brush wet hair

Tips;

  1. Start by spraying a hair detangler or a leave-in conditioner. This will give more slip to your hair strands. Always start brushing the ends of your hair first, and make your way to the top.

  2. Comb down with gentle movements to tangles. Don’t force the comb through your hair, be kind to yourself, always. Small brush strokes are best. Feel free to use your fingers to loosen any knots.

  3. Special cases. If your hair is particularly tangled or knotted, we recommend being extra gentle when you are shampooing your hair. Start to detangle your hair in the shower with the help of your mask or conditioner, with the water running.

Brushing dry hair.

Steps;

Similar to wet hair, start from the ends, brushing ends to the top. continue brushing downward until you have removed all tangles from each section.

Continue moving up your hair until you get to your scalp, and then brush the entire length of your hair a few times. Be careful! Most damage happens when we battle with our hair and are rougher with our brushing than we need to be. So be gentle and go slow.

Wet brushes are the king in most hair salon, and that isn't different here at Musart! We not only use it for our everyday services, but we also offer them, so you can have them at home. If you're worried about breakage and painful snagging, fear not. Wet brush does anything your current brush does but a million times better, for real. Not only is it adorable (there are plenty of colors and designs to choose from), but this detangling brush also features exclusive IntelliFlex bristles, which claim to move and bend with your strands (without the cringe-worthy snap) to seamlessly remove rough patches sans damage or tears. It's great for detangling wet hair, it works on dry strands, as well.

Ofcourse there are lots of others that we could recommend, but in overall, Wet brushes offer all you need, including a great price.
